Project Background:

The idea of the creation of Venture, the Travel Sidekick, was developed after encountering other wanderlust travelers during my personal adventures.  After spending countless hours developing my travel iteneraries, then learning more about events and actvities upon arrival to my destination, I became inspired to create something more efficient to receive the information I needed as an adventure traveler.  While on travel I met many other expats and tourists encountering similar struggles.  Creating a mobile application that allowed local venue hosts, event coordinators, local attractions, and tourists to share and book an event through the app based on customizable settings and location rules.

Research Goals:

Determine what features users needed/wanted in a custom travel utility app
Get a feel for what traveler’s looked for during their travel experiences
Find out user challenges as it applies to their budget or lifestyle needs
Understand the travel industry through market research
Find out what motivates people to use this travel utility
Determine what will motivate people to stick with using this application.

Interviews:

Most who used the travel utlity started because of a coupon or other incentive
Most tried the service and it useful while in beta testing
Travelers like variety and flexibility to choose according to their interests.
Those interviewed said they would subscribe to use the service, however would need to remember to use it next time they traveled.  Utlization would be very incosistent and possibly forgotten.
User Personas
Tasks & User Flows
There is one main task flow and that is to successfully locate near by events and activities for travelers and go through the check out process in one place.
The user flow contains a few more decision  points.  This is where users can decide what events and attractions they want, as well as build an itinerary that allows travels to interact with locals.

Usability Testing
Testing Objectives
Determine the ease at which users can navigate through the app to accomplish their task, which will be to build their activity itinerary and puchase admissions
Observe the path in which they took to get through to the payment screen
Test the overall ease of use of navigating through building their activity itinerary
Observe any frustrations or obstacles users may have that may impede their ability to complete their task

Test Summary
In Person/Remote Testing
- Confusion over some terms
- Lengthy options in search
- High marks for ease of use

Unmoderated Remore Testing
Many faced difficulty interacting with the prototype
